Since 2005, Ogden City has been purchasing, restoring, and reselling homes within Ogden to owner-occupant buyers. These newly restored homes and in some cases, newly built homes, are located in Ogden’s older neighborhoods, and are designed to complement the historic architecture of the neighborhoods. Ogden City also provides special financing assistance to help homebuyers qualify for the properties.
Home Sweet Ogden homes typically have updated plumbing, electrical, and heating systems. The roofs, windows, and doors are replaced where needed. The homes are sold complete with new carpet and/or hardwood floors, kitchens, baths, and appliances. The quality and level of improvement on Home Sweet Ogden Homes is top notch. It’s hard to believe that the city is able to invest so much into these homes and still offer them at some competitive prices.
Types of properties available in the Home Sweet Ogden Program include:
- Asset Control Area (ACA) homes: HUD (U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development) repossessions that are acquired by Ogden City and completely remodeled (there are special HUD guidelines for these homes)
- Rehabilitations: homes purchased and remodeled by Ogden City.
- New “Historic” Homes: new homes built in Ogden’s older neighborhoods and built consistent with historic styles in the area.
