First-time homebuyers can save money on an FHA mortgage if they are willing to spend a few hours taking homeowners education classes. The HAWK (Homeowners Armed with Knowledge) program offers homebuyers a way to cut their mortgage insurance premiums simply by attending homeownership courses.
First-time borrowers who take the classes can save an average of $325 per year or up to $10,000 over the life of the mortgage.
Classes will be taught by agencies approved by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Currently FHA-backed loans are available to buyers with a credit score as low as 560 and a minimum down payment as little as 3.5 percent.
Utah Valley University just purchased 125 acres from Anderson Geneva Development. The land is part of the 1,700-acre master-planned development @geneva, located at the former Geneva Steel mill in Vineyard. The university will utilize the land for future buildings and to help accommodate growth at UVU. This 125-acre purchase adds to the 100 acres that the university already owns at the site and will effectively double the university’s footprint in Utah County.
